Mission of the project
People for Libraries is a political action committee whose purpose is to support the libraries and services provided through Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS) by advocating for library funding measures. The current countywide local option levy will expire in June of 2026. A proposal to renew library funding is anticipated to be on the November 2025 ballot.
The renewal of the levy provides needed funds to:
Maintain open hours at all libraries, avoiding cuts in service
Fund children’s reading events, including summer reading and literacy programs for preschoolers
Purchase books and materials that all library users have access to countywide
Provide reading and learning support, including online access and homework help designed to improve school success for all students in the county
Maintain central support and services that link libraries together
Please support the People for Libraries advocacy campaign to ensure that our libraries are able continue to provide these services.
